Icelandic Horses for Sale

At Clear Lake Farm (CLF) horses for sale are evaluated and described by Otmar and Kordula based on their extensive knowledge of and experience with Icelandics. Only pure-bred, registered Icelandic Horses are being sold.

Matching the buyer with a suitable horse is most important. Purchasers of riding horses are encouraged to try out horses in person. Young horses may remain at CLF as boarders. They may also receive training according to the buyer’s wishes before leaving CLF.

Prices vary according to age and training received. Contact the CLF team for a current price list.

Buying a horse at Clear Lake Farm usually means establishing a long term relationship. Based on qualification and experience, the CLF team’s advice and support ensure customers’ satisfaction.

Soley

Soley vom Schluensee

Black mare

Born: 1997 in Germany

Height: 139 cm

Sire: First Prize Stallion Náttar frá Midfelli

Dam: Snælda vom Arnoldhof (German bred mare going back to Stigandi frá Kolkous)

Where does one begin to list Soley’s qualities?! For the past 6 years Soley has been one of the pillars of our business. She has been taking out tourist on trail rides, worked as a school horse, competed with students at shows, represented the Icelandic Horse as part of a demonstration team, and gave birth to three foals.

Soley is a great all-round horse of exceptional quality and with extensive experience and exposure. She is a truly versatile horse with incredible stamina and willingness.

Her sire Náttar, a well-known producer of great riding horses, is a 5-gaited stallion with a 9 for tölt and 8.83 for pace.

Tvista

Tvista vom Sandloh - SOLD

Born 1993 in Germany, chestnut with flaxen mane and tail, star and snip

Dam and sire both evaluated First Prize

Tvista is a 4-gaited mare, she is trained and has been used in riding lessons and trail rides. She has successfully participated in demos and shows. Tvista has had seven foals, all of great quality. She is the perfect all-round horse and also excellent brood mare. She matches well with 4- and 5-gaited horses. All of her offspring are tall and well build. Tvista is in foal by Logi frá Skarði and due April 2010.

Ljuf

Ljuf is a true fun horse, a wonderful partner for your leisure time. She has been a delight to train: eager to please with the perfect temperament; forward yet calm. Ljuf is very reliable wherever you go and has mostly been ridden on her own. Ljuf has the talents to be 5-gaited but her pace is not trained. She is exceptionally safe with traffic and on the trails and has participated in demos. Ljuf has excellent ground manners. Ride her bareback, ride her just with a halter, . . . a horse like her does not come along often.

Sprettur

Sprettur

Born 2002 in Canada, black gelding with four white socks, 136 cm
Sire: Fengur frá Hellulandi
Sprettur was started under saddle in the fall of 2006. Since then he has been ridden regularly during our riding season, April – November each year. He has gained a lot of experience participating in riding lessons, trail rides, and day tours being ridden by riders of different levels. He has been shown very successfully at Icelandic Horse competitions in Ontario bringing home lots of rosettes. Sprettur has had lots of exposure to new environments. He is of course well behaved for daily handling.

Stjarni

Stjarni

Born 2002 in Canada, chestnut gelding with big star, 142 cm
Sire: First Prize Stallion Hrókur frá Stærribæ
Stjarni is a handsome looking horse - very friendly and easy to handle. He was started under saddle in the fall of 2006. Since then Stjarni has been ridden regularly during our riding season, April – November each year. He has been enjoyed in lessons, on trail rides, and day tours by various riders. Stjarni has participated very successfully in Icelandic Horse shows in Ontario winning classes and reaching places in the top five. He is 5-gaited but his pace is not trained.

Randver

Randver - SOLD

Born 2005 in Canada, black gelding with large star
Sire: First Prize Stallion Náttfari vom Wiesenhof
Randver is a friendly, people-loving guy. He has been started under saddle in July 2009. Randver is showing walk, trot, tolt and canter clearly separated under saddle. All gaits are very smooth. Randver has been ridden on our oval track as well as on the trails and along side roads with company and on his own. He seems to be a rather calm fellow suitable for a nervous rider. Randver measures 13.1 hh and is sturdy. (picture taken July 2008)

Skolli

Skolli frá Clear Lake Farm

Sire: Jonas vom Sandloh
Skolli has been started under saddle in July 2009. He proves to be very athletic, sure-footed, and extremely well balanced. He is ridden in walk, trot, tolt and canter on the track, out on the trails and along the side-roads mostly on his own. Skolli is always co-operative and fun to work with. His great carriage and suppleness let him appear very elegant and light-footed. Skolli likes to work and please his rider. (picture taken January 2009)

Biskup

Biskup frá Clear Lake

Born 2005 at CLF, black gelding
Sire: First Prize Stallion Náttfari vom Wiesenhof
Biskup is a very promising horse with lots of potential. He has been started under saddle and is used to be ridden on the oval track, trails and along the road. He shows a good walk, long stride elastic trot with a good moment of suspension, and clear beat canter. His tölt is still developing. Biskup should become a good and versatile riding horse suitable for competitions. (picture taken October  2008)

Glofaxi

Glofaxi frá Clear Lake Farm - SOLD

Glofaxi is a handsome, tall youngster with excellent conformation. Due to his mature build Glofaxi was started in July 2009. He progressed really fast and is now showing walk, trot, tolt and canter under saddle. Glofaxi is a very confident horse with a calm yet willing personality. He has been ridden mostly on his own on the track, the trails and along the side roads. Glofaxi is currently standing at 14 hh and would be very suitable for a tall rider. Skvetta is a breed-typical, very beautiful young mare. She is elegant and very expressive with joy to move. Skvetta is showing a very good trot with long strides and suspension. Skvetta has received some ground work in order to prepare her for starting under saddle.

Listi

Listi is self-confident and tall. He is 5-gaited and shows all gaits on the pasture. He has lots of spirit, likes to run and carries himself proudly with good neck and head carriage. So far Listi has been handled for farrier and vet visits. We expect Listi to become a tall, strong and reliable riding horse. (picture taken October  2008)

Einar is a talented youngster with wonderful disposition and a great pedigree. His maternal grandfather is the 2007 World Champion in 5-gait, Kraftur frá Bringu. He was evaluated as a foal in 2007 with an overall score of 7.89. The FEIF International Breeding Judge Barbara Frische commented: “Breed typical foal with very good expression and head carriage, has shown promising trot with suspension, long strides and quite good speed, clear beat tölt in transitions.” (picture taken July  2008)

Gráma is a well-matured filly. She has been handled for worming, trimming and vaccinations. Gráma is a promising daughter of the First Prize Stallion Logi frá Skarði. His full-brother Kiljan was the winner of the 2007 FEIF Young Horse Evaluation at CLF with a score of 8.10. The colt could stay at Clear Lake Farm and be raised among the herd.

In addition to the horses listed here the CLF team occasionally sells one of their experienced school and trail horses.  Icelandic Horse enthusiasts wanting to start their own breeding program should inquire about proven brood mares, promising fillies or stud prospects.
